Estes and Ena Anderson Scholarship Program
2025 Application Information

The Estes and Ena Anderson Scholarship Program pays tribute to the late Estes Clarence and Ena Taylor Anderson, who were lifetime members of Abner Baptist Church.   The Anderson family launched the scholarship program in 2015 to encourage and support Abner students pursuing a degree* in higher education.

The scholarship committee offers annual scholarships of $1,000 to eligible applicants who demonstrate financial need, a strong academic record, and a commitment to serving their church and community.  Awards are granted at the scholarship committee’s discretion through a competitive ranking process.

Applicant Eligibility Requirements

  • Abner member (baptism, letter, or experience) in good standing as defined in the church constitution,
  • Graduating high school senior or current student pursuing a degree* at an accredited college, university, or vocational school for the upcoming academic school year,
  • Demonstrate a cumulative 2.5 or above GPA on a 4.0 scale,
  • Demonstrate financial need,
  • U.S. citizen attending school in the U.S.

Minimum Award Amount
$1,000.

Application Deadline
The 2025 scholarship application acceptance period is April 14 – May 24.

Selection Process
Scholarship applications are competitive, and applicants must meet all listed eligibility criteria to be considered.  The Estes and Ena Anderson Scholarship committee will evaluate all applications according to established program guidelines. The committee will notify applicants via email of their acceptance status by June 7, 2025.

Additional Information
Upon receiving notification, the scholarship recipient must provide proof of school enrollment to the committee.  The church will send scholarship payments directly to the recipient’s school in early August.

*Degree may be vocational, associate, undergraduate, or graduate if continuing into graduate school no more than twelve months following completion of undergraduate studies.
